It's finally finished! I had this idea of sketching Luffy hunching like this; but after I drew that, I didn't know what to do with it, so it's been left unfinished for a long time. Well, the picture took a life of its own once I started painting it. You see, in my mind I was drawing a grinning Luffy splashing in the water, then somehow I ended up with this v_v

I think it has to do with my left-handed-ness and the notion of the left side as a symbol of evil/suffering. So my evil hand is constantly fighting against my mind and drawing such intense things. However, I've noticed whenever I'm cell-shading, most of the pictures are 'happy'... This is getting a little complicated at 2am in the morning -_-

Anyway, I'm trying to work on making better composition, so I'm forcing myself to do less portraits and individual character pictures. It's one of those things where I know it's missing a piece of the puzzle but I haven't found it yet, so I keep trying. Still, I may change my mind and edit Zoro out after a while.

Thanks for the input! He's just kind of lurking back there so it's a little unsettling. I still have big problems with it, but man, I gotta learn to let things go and move on or just draw more in general so I get better ;;

I can't believe how gorgeous this is D: The shading on the skin and how it looks like real paint, and OMG that hat is amazing *_____* I love the texture on it, straw is such a hard material to paint properly... Luffy looks hot in blue aswell ;D *is shot for inapropriate comment* and Zoro...man don't even get me started on him~ :iconblush-plz: No editting neccasary. :heart:

and...you're left handed too?? Omg, you just became even more awesome ;A;

I feel that Zoro being back there is a good sign of the kinship between the crew.
As though for Luffy's aspirations, Zoro will fight too, for his Captain.
Though he does always looks serious x3

Nice take on what was implied in the title. I have something darker in mind when I picked it, that is, Zoro's loyalty being in question from what's happening in the picture. I don't know if it means they're just 'sparring' or fighting man to man- but it spoke that kind of atmosphere to me after I was finished.

Thank you! I enjoyed painting the hat most, it was so simple compared to human anatomy OTL

I think Zoro in the background looks good. It looks like they've just been sparring or something. I wish I had something better to say.

Zoro's possibly one of the most loyal and upstanding of the crew I'd say, and I'd describe him as more 'watching his back with some serious intent' xD;
Plus he's been there pretty much from the very start ^^
Though for what you were thinking, Ussopp may be a good choice because of what happened in Water 7.
